April Showers?

Crumbs, the weather has been odd today. We sat in the conservatory this morning and ate our breakfast there. Kim had cleared it out of the winter clutter and 'dumping ground' stuff, cleaned all the windows and it is back to being a nice place on a sunny morning.

The morning wasn't that warm (my laptop widget told me it was 8 Celsius) and we have let the rayburn go out as it was making the place too hot (though we shall light it for our weekend visitor, who isn't well padded like us) and sitting with the kitchen door open was a tad chilly around the knees. We decanted into the conservatory and it was warm and toasty with the sun streaming in.

I call it a conservatory. It was sold to us by the estate agents as an orangery; how pretentious is that? It's only a lean-to style thing slapped against the back of the house, and though we do have two baby orange trees, my idea of an orangery requires many more square feet! Still, it's a lovely sunny garden room and we can sit and watch the birds and listen to the bees humming.

Sounds like a nice day, doesn't it? Ten minutes after coming upstairs to the office and sitting down to work, there were very decent sized hail stones bouncing off the roof and taking their time to melt. Not quite what I would have had in mind for April showers, but it's never boring here in Shepton!

The weather isn't crazy just in your neck of the woods. We have gone from wonderful nice weather to crummy cold weather almost overnight. I, unfortunately, have to spend several hours out in it tonight to watch one of my sons play baseball. I'm definitely taking a blanket and some hot chocolate this time!

It's really rough edged, the weather at the mo. Blimey, I wouldn't want to be watching sports on a night like this!!

The anticipation for this weekend is almost killing me. Can't wait!!

Poor you Fox, take lots of thick socks and woolly hat and double chocolate rations! Still, it's great to see your kids playing and having fun, so I shall send warm thoughts your way.

TGW, I'm looking forward to the weekend too, though I think I might relight the rayburn before the weekend if things don't cheer up. Two hail storms, thunder, lightning and then a downpour of rain and there's a real nip in the air again.

If you're feeling very, very naughty we can get hot pain au chocolat at the village shop on Sunday morning and munch them in the orangery (snort, guffaw) with lashings of tea or coffee and watch the jackdaws cavort while waiting for the hangover to abate.

I think this is going to be fun. What a shame you're not closer Fox, or we could all have a fun weekend together celebrating Beltaine! We shall have to go up Ham Hill and frighten the dog walkers by dancing around the standing stones... well, you can dance and I shall hobble!

We need to keep a chunk of time clear as there is something I shall want to show you when you get here and it might take a while - I think you will like it, but that's all I can say for the moment. :-)

Oh, so jealous of your upcoming weekend. But, I am also thrilled that you two get to spend it celebrating together. Be sure to share in your adventures so I can at least experience the afterglow!
