Somerset Is So Civilised

I love living in this part of England, it's just so civilised. Apart from the luscious, green countryside, unspoiled by huge conurbations, the clean air and people who have enough time to still be polite and friendly to one another, we have Dillington House.

Dillington is a jacobethan confection from the early 19th century, though there has been habitation on the site since before Doomsday. It is privately owned and leased to South Somerset council, who use and maintain it for adult education. The food at Dillington is a dream and worth making the trip for, without the education!

What is best about Dillington is that they have such an interesting and eclectic mixture of courses, residential and day, concerts and public lectures. I found that they are running a lecture by Ronald Hutton on Pagan Religions Of The Ancient British Isles, how fascinating. Needless to say I have booked tickets (and they are only £10 whoppee!) and was lucky to get one as they are selling fast. Oooh! I am looking forward to this.

Looking lovely, my dear. Your hair!

Can't wait till March 30th - good call.

I hope it will be lovely by then! I went a very Diana Dors blonde, all over; no half measures and highlights for me, oh no! Full bleachy blonde, I was.

Before that I had grown my hair out and discovered that I have much darker hair than I thought - it has lots of different colours in it, reds, golds, very dark and even a few blonde ones... and three grey hairs! After a while I got bored, decided blondes had more fun and went for the full colour change.

Blondes may have more fun, but they have a lot of trouble with roots if their hair grows as fast as mine. What a pain. Every 3 1/2 weeks I was off to the salon and just one week after I have been coloured, I would already have a dark streak in my parting. Not such fun and it was costing a small fortune.

It's not that I begrudge my lovely hairdresser a living, but it had stopped being fun. Anyway, she's a delight and managed to dye me back to something akin to my natural colour, though it's a bit reddy auburn, rather than the otter-avec-highlights look that my natural hair has.

Still, at the rate it grows, it won't take long before all the dye is out!
